Our story

One house, two centuries, one name.

Our story

Some houses offer a bed for the night, others a story. Here you get both.

A house of encounters

In 1850 the Pri Matevžu inn stood on the road through Črna. Carters, miners and merchants on their way to Klagenfurt stopped here.

The house was a place to sleep, an inn, and the place to hear what was going on in the valley.

From here, Črna set out into the world

Črna grew along with its lead and zinc mine. Those who were leaving and those who were coming home all stopped at Pri Matevžu.

Owners came and went; the name stayed.

Renovation

An old name. A new chapter.

We renovated the house from the foundations to the roof. The thick walls, the stone portal and the tall windows remain. There are new rooms in the attic and, beside the house, an annex with a terrace.

The renovation was co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (NOO).

Welcome

The door you walk through is almost two centuries old. Behind it, a bed awaits you, and a story to take with you.

Sixteen rooms, four stars, an old name.

What remains

Wrought iron and old oak

The wrought-iron lamps, the heavy wooden door with its iron ring and the thick walls stayed where they were after the renovation.
